Dr. Gaitonde believes endocrinology is an exciting and complex field, requiring an in-depth understanding of how disruptions in hormones affect multiple organ systems. He believes there are incredible opportunities to make a positive impact on a patient’s health and reduce the long-term risk of severe complications from diseases like diabetes and osteoporosis. "I want to provide medical care that is of high value to the patient. For me that starts with understanding who they are and what their story is. If an evaluation uncovers an endocrine disorder, then we will work together to find an effective treatment plan. If no endocrine disease is found, I will provide the patient with alternative diagnoses for their symptoms and guide them in the right direction." Prior to joining SCL Health, New Jersey native David Gaitonde, MD practiced medicine in Fort Gordon, Georgia. He also served 21 years as an active duty physician in the United States Army. Caring for soldiers and their families is one of his greatest honors, and has helped him appreciate the sacrifices that ordinary Americans make for their country and family. To recharge, Dr. Gaitonde enjoys hiking, photography, music and the outdoors. He was also involved in student ministry in Georgia. He loved investing in the lives of high school students and being a small part of their faith journey.
